Two more people fall victim to COVID-19

Two more people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in Sunderland’s hospital trust.

The latest numbers from Public Health England yesterday show there have been 1,227 confirmed cases in the city, up from 1,223 yesterday.

A total of 8,395 people have tested positive for the virus in the North East, a rise of 64.

Across the UK, 201,101 people have tested positive, a daily rise of 6,111, and 30,076 people who tested positive have died.

New figures from NHS England today show there have been 287 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths in the South Tyneside and Sunderland trust’s hospitals.

Across the North East, 1,132 people who tested positive for COVID-19 have died.

Nationally, a further 331 people with the virus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 22,049. County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust – Total number of deaths at the trust: 191. Number of deaths announced yesterday: 7.
