PPE support for NHS and city organisation

-

The North East Futures UTC is using its digital technology specialism to print 3D visors for NHS staff.

In addition, the specialist health and digital technology school has donated a range of PPE from its science department – with protective eyewear going to Sunderland Royal Hospital and the RVI in Newcastle.

Its lobby is currently home to a temporary food bank and as a regional school, it will be collecting food and taking it to donation points across Tyne and Wear to support members of society who are struggling.

The first donation will be made to an organisation in Sunderland for distribution across the city.

A North East Futures UTC spokesman added: “A group of staff are spending their time driving fund-raising efforts forward by running and cycling across Europe to

Istanbul.

“Whilst they are unable to do this together, they are encouraging and competing with each other by using online distance recording apps.

“Proceeds from this will also go to support a local hospice.

“Our doors are open for young people across the North East. We have many young people who Metro in from Sunderland and would love to see more.

“Sunderland University is one of our sponsors and this exemplifies why we are a school for 14 to 19-yearolds in Sunderland as well as Newcastle and beyond.

“Parents wanting to find out more about us can join us for our virtual open evening on May 20 from 6pm – details will be posted on our social media pages or apply now via our website www. nefuturesutc.co.uk”
