Government under pressure to produce the coronavirus ‘R’ rate of infection region by region amid lockdown easing fears in North East.

Alan McGinn: I don't really pay attention to what the government advises or rules on this anymore; they're more interested in their popularity. I'm keeping myself safe and using a bit of common sense regarding social distancing, hygiene and staying healthy. If everyone understood the risks, assessed each situation and used their judgement, things would be much better for all.

Kit Todd: They blame poverty I’ll health and unemployment etc etc etc for the high infection rate in Sunderland. Ok that plays a role but not as much as the stupidity of the people in this city who think lock down is a huge joke or are too thick to understand this could kill them. Alexandra Kellett: Spain had a better idea, unlocking places are by area depending on the R rate and hospital capacity. Even then you aren't allowed to travel out of your area without a good reason.

Maureen Philp: We have highest deathrate. Even with before this new arrangements that’s out. We need more stringent measures in place i think till this drops and over weeks !!!! Caroline Gudgion: Social distancing could someone please tell the stupid people who are still out & about what it means. It would appear there are a hell of alot DON'T know what it means. Sunderland has the highest infection rate & highest deaths in the country.

Robert Middleton: The R rate in our area means release them. Very few taking any notice of lockdown rules anyhow,

Bryan Seddon: They should make mask wearing compulsory i no it doesnt cure it but it would help. Maureen Dagg: Just all be sensible. Full stop.

Christine Dagg: It's too soon I'll be staying in the house

Billy Hood: I have no doubt quite a lot of you voted for these egotistical liar's. You reap what you sow.
