Now is the time to bank on Rouget stable’s Aubevoye at Bordeaux

-

Aubevoye can strike for the Jean-Claude Rouget stable in the Grand Prix de Bordeaux tomorrow.

Thefive-year-oldisagenerally consistent sort, finishing with a fair rattle on the inside to win on the all-weather at Cagnes-Sur-Mer in January, before just failing in a Listed race the following month, having come from off the pace to chase a rival who proved better placed.

He has form at the bigger tracksaswell, winningatParisLongchamp last summer, and looks to be the pick of Cristian Demuro from two runners for the yard.

His only disappointing effort was at Clairefontaine in August, but he was beaten a long way and it is probably safe to put a line through that.

On quite an attractive card, the Christophe Ferlandtrained Frohsim can lead the way in the Derby du Midi.

Asonthetrainer'stop-class performer Dabirsim, he has wonthreeofhisfourstartsand is on a hat-trick after victories at Chantilly and Deauville earlier in the year.

This represents a step up and the Rouget-trained Fantastic Spirit is a danger, but Ferland has had a few winners since racing came back in France - including the potentially smart Pao Alto - and will have high hopes of adding to his tally.

Rouget should in fact be hard to keep out of the argument in the opening few events, with No Turning likely to take a bit of beating in the Prix Armand Dibos.

There could be another for the Ferland team, too, with Influx of interest in the Prix Achille Fould.

TIPS: BORDEAUX: 10.45 Amyr Du Soleil, 11.15 Frohsim, 11.45 No Turning, 12.15 AUBEVOYE (NAP), 12.45 Al Efreeta, 13.17 Influx, 13.52 Guardian Fay, 14.32 Gege De Faust Aa, 15.07 Akinathor Game, 15.37 Pedraza Lescribaa.

The Woodlands Stakes will be the target on the opening afternoon for the daughter of DreamAhead, beforewhatwill be a third trip to Royal Ascot this year for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

Fogarty rightly has fond memories of his visits to Ascot with his stable star, who was beaten less than two lengths when seventh in the Queen Mary two years ago and found only Advertise too good in the Commonwealth Cup 12 months ago.
