Warzuzu can bag Bordeaux gold in Prix la Lagune

-

Warzuzu can feel the benefit of her recent run as she contests the Prix la Lagune at Bordeaux Le Bouscat tomorrow.

The three-year-old was a winner on her second start last term, after only just being beatenon her initial outing, and the form of that victory has worked out well.

Second-placed Bionic Woman went on to finish fourth at Group One level, while there were four other subsequent winners amongst the also-rans.

Christophe Ferland felt his charge deserved a crack at Group company after that win, but Warzuzu raced very keenly at ParisLongchamp that day and suffered a bit of trouble in running when dropping back in the field.

Warzuzu' s season ended afterthat run last September and she possibly was justin need of the outing when finishing last in a conditions heat back at ParisLongchamp earlier this month. She raced prominently that day and had no answer when the front-running winner Shinning Ocean kicked on, with Warzuzu again being hampered as she faded into the field. That run was over a mile and given she has shown her better form at seven furlongs, dropping back in distance here makes sense.

Late Comer let down favourite backers on his first start for 72 days last week, but should surely take a step forward for the Prix Jonathan Besse.

The seven-year-old had been pretty consistent through the winter, but he took his time to get going on his first start back after the shutdown.

Late Comer did not enjoy the best passage over six furlongs that day, but he was finishing with real purpose when beaten two and a half lengths in third. A winner over a mile in the past, he returns to that trip here.

It is a mixed card on offer and Device makes somethe Prix Jacques D el aye.

The eight-year-old is having his first start away from Au teuil in well over three years andfrom a lengthy spell on the sidelines when fifth at that track earlier this month.

He finished strongly that day without being put under too much pressure and the run should have brought him on for this contest.

Device is handled by Guillaume Macaire and the trainer can make it a double with Saint M anoint he Prix Mon Roma in.

TIPS: BORDEAUX LE BOUSCAT: 3.28 Gemystory, 3.58 Boomerang, 4.35 WARZUZU (NAP), 5.15 Device, 5.45 Wink Oliver, 6.15 Saint Mano, 7.15 Late Comer.
