Maresca looks magic at Clairefontaine in the E80,000 Prix Trinidad

-

Via Maresca looks to be the pick of the bunch in the E80,000 Prix Trinidad which headlines a stacked card of jumps action at Clairefontaine.

An impressive winner last time out by 10 lengths in a solid handicap at Compiegne, her only other run this year was a creditable third behind Lou Buck's and Foreign Flower, two Group-class performers.

Look for the unexposed Marcel Rolland-trained charge to continue her upwardly mobile progression, with Katy Love presenting the main danger as she looks to bounce back from a disappointing run at Auteuil after a promising start to her jumps career.

In the opener, the rapidlyimproving Ginga looks set to break her maiden at the third time of asking in the Prix du

Nivernais. Despite seemingly struggling with the heavy ground on debut she stepped up next time out, staying on willingly to finish a strong second in a similar race to this.

She is opposed by Risk D'Aimer who won her first and only start over hurdles by four and a half lengths over the same trip at Moulins, and Miss Maia, who had flashes of form on the Flat and takes a step down in class after putting a decent showing in a more valuable race at Auteil

Ginga seems to be a consistent and tough performer though, and provided the step up in trip suits her the field could find it difficult to beat the Mickael Seror-trained filly. In the finale, the Prix du Boulonnais, High King looks to perhaps be a class above the rest of the field.

Even though he did not break his maiden over hurdles, the four-year-old came second in his penultimate start to classy performer Solo, who is now with Paul Nicholls and was last seen in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham.

He has since made a positive start to his chasing career, winning his only start over fences against solid opposition and will not have to go much better here to maintain his unbeaten record over fences. The main danger appears to be Bal Express, who like High King has only had one start over the fences but boasts flashes of form over hurdles and could be open to improvement.
