Two more die after positive Covid-19 test
Two more patients who were being cared for by the city’s hospital trust have sadly died after testing positive for coronavirus.
Figures released yesterday, show two additional coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded by South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, meaning the total number deaths at the trust now stands at 320.
In total, 1,339 people who had tested positive for coronavirus have died across the North East’s hospital trusts.
Nationally, a further 108 people who tested positive for COVID-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 26,722.
Deaths are announced on an NHS trust level – there is no public breakdown of deaths per hospital.
