Have your say on new priorities

-

plans meet their needs.

Coun John Kelly, cabinet member for communities and culture, said: "We had a fantastic response from residents back in September 2019 when we asked them what they liked about their neighbourhood and how they would like to see it changed or improved, with thousands of people taking in part in events in their communities and giving us their views online.

"Based on what residents told us at the time, we built our neighbourhood investment plans around a range of priorities – including cleaning up neighbourhoods, improving health and well-being and strengthening the voluntary and community sector.

"But as the city prepares for life after coronavirus, we felt it was important to go back out to people to ask whether those priorities are still the same, and what they think is the single most important thing we can do when it comes to supporting our residents post COVID-19.

"We also want residents to tell us what we can do to help them to feel safe and improve their overall health and well-being, and if they are still willing to get involved in supporting their neighbourhood by volunteering.

“It was truly overwhelming when more than 1,000 volunteers responded to our call to help out during the COVID-19 crisis and we very much hope this spirit of communities pulling together to help each other out will continue long after the pandemic.”

Residents can complete the survey online at www.sunderland.gov.uk/letstalk until Friday, June 26.

The council will also be contacting many of those who took part in the original consultation to seek their views.
