Cats’ agent fee spend in last two windows

-

Sunderland spent a total of £1,346,373 on agent fees across the last two transfer windows, figures from the FA have revealed.

It marks a significant drop from the previous year, in which the Black Cats spent £2,873,033.

Despite the drop, Sunderland were again the biggest spenders in the division by a significant margin.

The period saw Sunderland continue to work through the challenging legacy left by consecutive relegations into the third tier, with yet more significant squad upheaval.

Coventry City were next on the League One list with a total of £353,632, followed closely by Ipswich Town with a total spend of £325,262.

The figures socer the period from February 1st, 2019 to January 31st, 2020.

Sunderland's spend in that time totalled approximately a third of the entire spend in League One, which fell just short of the £4 million mark.

Indeed, Sunderland's total was higher than 11 Championship clubs.

The figure covered 30 transactions from the club.

Eleven of those were firstteam signings, while four related to contract renewals in the senior squad.

There were ten transactions relating to signings and contracts in the Academy.

There were four for outgoing players, including senior figures Lamine Kone, Bryan Oviedo and George Honeyman. Two related to the termination of senior contracts.

Both Donald Love and Lee Cattermole reached an agreement to bring an early end to their contracts, with the latter represented by former chief executive Margaret Byrne.
