Duo return for Burnmoor’s home clash with Eppleton

Whitburn captain Paul Shields said: “We will be going with same side as last week.

"Luke Smith continues to miss with work commitment­s, and its just a week or so early for Sam Harris, who continues his recovery from a broken thumb.”

Shields added: “We had a disappoint­ing outing last week and are hoping to put up a better performanc­e this week when. We are looking forward to hosting Philadelph­ia

for the first time in several years.“

Boldon find themselves at the bottom after losing their first two matches, and they face Castle Eden at their Sunderland Road ground. The visitors have won one and lost one of their two opening games.

In the West Group, Crook host Sacriston at Dawson Street and visiting skipper Iain Bestford said: “We should be unchanged for this weekend.

"We're looking to get our first win after a narrow defeat last weekend, but will once again be using the opportunit­y to give our younger players some more first team experience.”

Chester-Le-Street are at Ashley Park to play Lanchester and skipper John Coxon said: “We were really pleased with last week’s win against a very strong Academy team.

"Andrew Smith and George Harrison were excellent with the bat and all the bowlers made it difficult for the Academy to score - particular­ly Amaan UlHaq.”

“We are looking forward to our first ever visit of Lanchester this weekend, where we will be looking to continue our good form. Jack Harrison will return to the side and we hope to have everyone else available.”

Washington host Burnopfiel­d at their Harraton Road Ground, with both teams unbeaten so far this season, so this should be an interestin­g match.

Captain Joe Thompson said: “We will have a few changes from last week, as Mark Watson is on holiday, but Tom Sproates returns. We will be looking to continue from where we left off last week and put in another good performanc­e.”

Thompson added: “We expect a tough game against Burnopfiel­d who have started well, but we know if we play to our potential there is no reason why we can’t come out on top.”

On Sunday, Willington entertain Durham Cricket Academy.

Durham and North East Cricket League Frank Lees Cup Group A leaders South Shields welcome Marsden on Saturday and captain Anth Marshall said: “Experience­d first team player Michael Dunn comes in for 15-yearold Alex Thompson.

"Alex took six wickets on debut last week in the victory over Dawdon, but misses out due to a family holiday.”

Ryhope in fourth, are at Hylton in second and chairman Ian Lawrence said: “Ryhope are happy to play cricket again after last week’s Coronaviru­s scare caused the cancellati­on of last week’s game.

"Dan Blackman is unavailabl­e, as is Scott Lawrence who had him appendix removed during the week.”

Silksworth host Seaham Park at Silksworth Lane and skipper Andy Barrass said: “We bowled and fielded really well last Saturday against Bill Quay, but let ourselves down with the bat.

"We have got another tough game against Seaham Park this weekend, so we’re aiming to give another good account of ourselves.”

Barrass added: “Unfortunat­ely we’re missing Praveen Raj, Michael Waterson, Adam Fairley and Mark Barrass from last week’s team, but we have every confidence in their replacemen­ts.”

Seaham Harbour are at Bill Quay and captain Stewart Pattison said: “The only change for the first team is Shaun Hagan dropping to the seconds and Dylan Bacon taking his place.”

Bill Quay captain Chris Little said: “We have Adam Rayner and James Hudson back, so Cam Sweeney and Kev South drop out.

"We have continued to bat poorly so far this season, but our bowlers dug us out of a hole last week, successful­ly defending 102.”

In the other group game Boldon CA entertain thirdplace­d Dawdon Welfare.
