She does not officially retire until September, but thanks to planned leave she is able to take a well-deserved rest and enjoy the beautiful region she has worked tirelessly to protect and serve over the years.

Insp Bridges said: “My time with Northumbria Police has been incredibly rewarding. I’ve been able to meet some fantastic and caring people, both in the police and in the communities I have served.

“I’ve been involved in some great police operations and investigations over the years. I feel incredibly lucky to have served the communities I have and have no doubt that my colleagues know just how special those communities are too.

“I always said that I had the best job in the world, so of course I’m sad to hang up my hat, but I’m leaving with fantastic memories and a career filled with proud moments.”
