Burnmoor beat the elements to win at home to Whitburn

The weather played havoc again with the local cricket, but leaders Burnmoor won at home to Whitburn, by six wickets.

Opening bats man Lee Henderson made a useful 57 runs and Paul Shields scored 33, in a total of 142-8, while Ryan Pringle and Graeme Bridge each took two wickets

Burnmoor opener Allan Worthy then contribute­d 31 in reply, and despite Kieran Waterson claiming 3-14 with the new ball for Whitburn, Riley James Blunt then made an excellent 41 not out to help see his side home to victory on 143-4.

Hetton Lyons stayed in second position following a comprehens­ive seven wicket win at home against Philadelph­ia.

Visitors Philadelph­ia scored a healthy total of 1787 as Shaun Hauxwell (75) and Dan Pearson (50), put on 107 runs for the second wicket.

Christophe­r Ralston claimed figures of 3-33 and was the pick of the Hetton bowling attack.

Steady batting by the top five of the Hetton lineup ensured their victory, as Stuart Walker hit 51 not out and Chris Martin with 38 not out, while Jarvis clay added 35 runs to his name, in a final total of 179-3.

Eppleton stayed in third position in the table after they comprehens­ively beat Castle Eden at Church Road, by 120 runs.

They racked up a commanding total of 201-6, as opener Marcus Brown hit 41, Sam Dinning an excellent 80 and Robert Talbot added 33, in their total.

The visitors were never in it after the interval and made just 81 all out, thanks to Robert Talbot with the ball (3-30), Josh Coughlin (3-9), and Connor Whitelock (2-10), to wrap up the victory for Eppleton.

In the Banks Salver West Group leaders Chester-LeStreet welcomed Washington to Ropery Lane, won the toss and decided to have a bat first.

George Harrison was in fine form with 83 runs and Andrew Smith added 53, and the pair were the mainstay of the innings as they put on 116 for the second wicket with a final total of 199-5.

In reply, the visitors began well as Josh Wilson made a superb 77, but good bowling from Amaan Ul-Haq and Liam Burgess, who each claimed two wickets, limited Washington in the end to 174-9.

Crook decided to bat first at Willington, but that decision soon backfired as they made just 126 all out.

James Hindmarsh made a good contributi­on of 53, but Lewis O'Donnell with 3-22, was the pick of the bowling for Willington.

The home side then made light work of the target, as James Stock fired 66 runs to guide his side to victory on 128-4.

In the Durham and North East Cricket League Frank Lees Cup Group A, despite the bad weather, the top two met up at the Billy Hardy Centre, as South Shields made it seven wins from seven games, as they beat hosts Hylton by one wicket after a tense and hard-fought encounter.

The home side took first knock and slumped to 4-2 early on, however, Marlon Black steadied the ship with 35 runs and Liam Foster hit 24, to get them to 110 all out.

Joshua Leslie was the hero with the ball, claiming superb figures of 4-32.

In reply, Shields also struggled, but a crucial score of 39 from Sam Embleton and Chris Stewart late on, hitting 23 off 17 balls, helped them scrape home to victory on 112-9 with just one wicket to spare.

In Frank Lees Cup Group B Littletown lost a crucial game at home against Durham City by just a two-run margin.

City were asked to bat first, and opener Callum Steel scored 37 and Lewis Carney made an excellent score of 77 runs off just 81 balls, which included four fours and five sixes, while

Jonny Harding added 36 runs to his name.

On the bowling front, Richard Ede took the plaudits with 4-41, while Paul Cassell claimed 3-44, in a final total of 207 all out.

The home side then lost regular wickets, but Matt Dench with 80 runs and Lee Gilbert with 55 to his name gave them hope, as they put on 122 runs for the fifth wicket.

However, Jonny Harding then claimed three crucial wickets to win his side the match, as the home side were all out for 205.

Mu rt on bat ted first at Tudhoe and won a very exciting game by just one run! Taylor Vout top scored with

48 runs off 49 balls, with Callum Salkeld adding 28 to his name in a final total of 194 all out.

William Jewitt claimed 4-30 and there were two wickets a piece, for James Curry and Stephen Brown.

Opener David Curry in reply, scored an excellent 97 from 125 balls, which included seven fours and three sixes.

However, in a chaotic last over, Cort Lynn and Stephen Brown were both run out and they ended up on 193-9.

Peterlee were on 45-1, before their game was abandoned at home to Hunwick.

In D arlington Building Society NYSD ECB Premier League Hartlepool won and

go fifth, following a comfortabl­e nine wicket success, at home to Normanby Hall.

The visitors batted first and scored just 117 all out, mainly thanks to Dhanish Hussain who scored 31. Paul B raith waite was the star with the ball, taking an excellent 5-28 and Ollie Mole claimed figures of 3-38.

Opener James Lowe wasted no time in scoring the runs, as he made 65 not out from 55 balls, which included seven fours and two six es, putting on 51 runs with Paul Braithwait­e (31), in a final winning total of 118-1.

In Division One Seaton Carew’s match at Great Ayton was abandoned, without a ball being bowled.
