Round-up of cases before the courts
The following cases were dealt with by South Northumbria Magistrates’ Court, which sits at both Sunderland and South Shields:
Scott Camp ion ,21, whose address was given as Durham Prison, was placed on a community order and ordered to pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs after admitting unlawfully possessing a bladed article, namely a peeling knife, in Park Lane, Sunderland, on April 2 and resisting a police officer in the execution of their duty on April 9.
ClaireQuigley ,41, of Moorsfield, Chilton Moor, was banned from driving for 17 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting drink-driving on May 28.
Dennis Smith, 49, of South Durham Court, Hendon, Sunderland, was received an absolute discharge after he admitted using threatening or abusive words or behaviour in Waterloo Place on March 17.
George Rae, 29, of Main Street, Ochiltree, Ayrshire, was banned from driving for a year, fined £180 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting drink-driving in Faber Road, Sunderland, on June 17.
Stewart Smith Walker, 37, of Coach Road Estate, Usworth, Washington, was ordered to pay £282.49p compensation to the Co-op after he admitted committing seven thefts at its Washington premises between December 2 last year and May 11.
His haul included wine, meat, cheese, coffee and baby formula powder. He also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to custody on July 14.
