A restaurant is extending the Eat Out To Help Out offer throughout the whole of September after an overwhelming reaction to the Government’s 50% discount scheme.

Fiume, in Bonemill Lane, Washington, had a packed restaurant every Mondayto-Wednesday throughout August as diners took advantage of the scheme, helpi n g th e re s t au - rant recover from months of being closed during the c o ro n av i r u s l o c kdown.

Now, the Italian restaurant is extending the offer for another month throughout September as it looks to capitalise on the success of the August.

Fiume staff say the Eat Out To Help Out offer has brought it a lot of familiar faces but also a lot of new one’s too.

A spokesperson for Fiume said: “After the amazi n g re s p o n s e we h ad i n August, we decided that it would be beneficial to everyone if we extended the offer.

"It means that we are busier on days we’d normally be the quietest, and it also means that our customers are able to come and enjoy a delicious m e a l f o r a g r e at discounted price which we feel is extremely important during these trying times. “O u r ex p e r i e n c e with the scheme was overwhelmingly positive. We were full almost every night Monday through Wednesday and there was a great atmosphere about the restaurant.”

A number of national restaurant chains have also extended the scheme into September, including Toby Carvery, Harvester and Pizza Hut.
