Cook proves too hot for Donkin in darts league
The first returning game of the new Golden Fleece Darts Premier League season saw Jordan Cook ease to a 5-1 victory over Ian Donkin.
Cook claimed the win with legs of 19 and 21 darts, plus a fine 180.
Next up, Gary Richardson beat Colin Brown 5-0, with all five legs 21 darts or less, plus a 170 checkout.
Tony Richardson defeated Eric Parker 5-2, with legs of 19 and 21 darts.
League leader before lockdown, Michael Seaman, remained top with a 5-0 win over Eddie Bland.
Seaman’s best legs came in 17, 20 and 21 darts.
Danny Cullen drew with is dad, Denny, with both players’ best leg being a 19 darter.
Charlie Thompson came from 4-1 down to claim a draw with Steve Richardson, with legs of 17, 20 and 21.
D a n S m i th d rew w i th Darren Parker, while Colin Brown bounced back from an earlier defeat to draw with Pete Wilson, both players enjoying a best leg of 20 darts. Jackie Moom picked up his first points of the season with a 5-2 win over Norman Place.
*Gary Anderson has pulled out of the upcoming World Series of Darts Finals and Autumn Series events, the Professional Darts Corporation has announced.
The former two-time world champion was part of the 24-player field for this month’s World Series of Darts Finals in Salzburg, but has opted to withdraw.
Anderson will be replaced by Krzysztof Ratajski, who is the highest-placed player from the PDC order of merit not currently in the event. The Scot has also opted out of the Autumn Series of five oneday Players Championships in Niedernhausen.
