Horden CW assistant manager Lee Bogan wants his side to use home comforts to continue their impressive start to the season.

A 2-0 defeat at Boldon CA has been the only black mark during Horden’s opening four games of the season ahead of Saturday’s home fixture against a Richmond Town side that have also enjoyed a positive opening to the campaign.

Horden will go into the game on the back of last weekend’s 16-0 hammer - ing of Annfield Plain – but Bogan stressed that his players must be prepared for a much tougher task against Neil Tarrant’s side.

He told The Echo: “Richmond are on the back a great result against Durham United so it’s a tough test.

“We beat them at home last season, but it wasn’t an easy game and we struggled to a draw at their place.

“They don’t give anyone an easy game, but neither do we. We are confident and it’s

been a very positive start to the season. We’ve only had a poor 45 minutes in the defeat at Boldon. We are proud of our home record and we want to maintain that.”

Horden will be without Robbie Renwick and Hayden Pace. Bogan also confirmed that Liam Appleby and Lee Westgarth have both left the club and wished them well.

Matthew Smith is available for Durham United’s visit to Norton and Stockton Ancients after recovering from a hamstring injury in the midweek loss to Wolviston.

FC Hartlepool are boosted by the return of several key players ahead of their visit to West Auckland Tunns.
