Grandparents banned from looking after children outside their 'bubble' - Government confirms rules on childcare under North East 'lockdown-style' restrictions.

Margaret Lister: This is insane....could they leave their kids in the pub ....I despair xx

Darren Barrass: Until authorities show more commitment in curbing the movement of those testing positive instead of naively expecting them to follow advice and instruction , I’m sure everyone else will show an equivalent commitment and continue to do what they need to do to get by .

Kerensa Appleton:

Ridiculous. They'd rather have people use child minding services as that is taxable, where as letting family members help with child care is the most sensible and safest course. But, this way doesn't generate taxes for this wonderful, wealth before health government.

Louise Sanders: I'm in the same position as most grandparents. I have my granddaughter and drop her at school, but it's when the schools stop allowing you to drop them off when the problems r going to start.

Kathleen Elizabeth

Wotton: Complete joke the government is so incompetent and only thinking of revenue

Emma Brotherton: This is only going to pile more pressure into working families it will also massively affect people’s mental health with the stress and worry over childcare when they already have sensible arrangements in place!

Ray-Lesley Reid: If we all just stand on this together and just look after grandkids, what can they do. If everyone who relies on us stops off work then north east will be in a right state.

Dick Dodds: Ridiculous. This demonstrates how this government is out of touch with the community. Do not blame the local authority this is a government decision.

Wendy Malt: You'll not get people following that rule for obvious reasons. So many anomalies in the new ruling.

Steven Thompson: The government has lost the plot completely now like. Can someone please please tell me where all these extra hundreds of thousands of childcare professionals are going to come from overnight too.
