Open North Foundation fundraiser

The newly-launched Open North Foundation, is staging its first fundraisin­g webinar to builds on its commitment to help North East companies struggling to recover from the pandemic.

COVID & BREXIT: What now for the UK economy, the North East in particular? will be held on Thursday, from 10am to noon.

The keynote speakers are Sunday Times economics editor David Smith, Barclays Wealth UK chief investment officer Will Hobbs, and North East Chamber of Commerce chief executive, James Ramsbotham.

The not-for-profit Open North Foundation is calling upon businesses and individual­s throughout the region to pledge financial support as part of a private sector-led initiative to rebuild the regional economy.

Businesses receiving financial support will be considered to deliver long-term positive economic impact and create high quality jobs.

In most cases, grants will range from £1,000 to £5,000 but this will be reviewed in due course, subject to funding.

Open North Foundation chairman Richard Swart, said: “We are delighted to have such knowledgea­ble speakers to headline what we believe will be a fascinatin­g discussion.

“We wanted to host an online webinar where people have the option to donate. Although optional, we are appealing for donations at least £30.”
