Adventure park forced to close permanently

A outdoor adventure park has confirmed it will not be reopening due to tough conditions brought on by the ongoing pandemic.

Beamish Wild, which offered thrillseekers a chance to try their skills on a high ropes treetop adventure course, has said it will not be welcoming back visitors to its site near Stanley in County Durham.

The decision comes after additional restrictions were placed on the county, alongside Sunderland, South Tyneside, Gateshead, North Tyneside and Northumberland, advising people not to socialise with other households or people outside of their social bubble due to the rise in coronavirus case numbers.

The attraction's website had said it was“working hard” on a reopening date, but posted an update on its Facebook page on Monday, telling followers the sad news about its decision.

It said: “It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce Be amish Wild is now permanently closed.

"This was a very difficult decision and we would like to thank all of you, our amazing TreeTops friends and also our amazing teams over the past 10 years of operations.

“As our high ropes course was getting on a bit, it requires a significant investment to modernise and update it and so did our KLIPA safety system.

"Unfortunately, due to the current COVID-19 circumstances and uncertainty around future trading conditions, we were forced to take the decision to close the centre.

“Please note the closure applies to any and all activities previously available at the centre and includes both individual and group bookings.”
