The Wearside League returns to a full schedule this we e ke n d a s c lub s ac ro s s Sunderland, South Tyneside and Gateshead end their enforced break from competitive fixtures.

Farringdon Detached will face a difficult test as they return to action as they travel to in-form league leaders Horden CW.

The hosts are sat with a three-point lead at the top of the Wearside table after claiming five victories from the opening six league games of the campaign.

Horden manager Jonny Payne has a number of selection issues ahead of the game – but revealed that they are “the right sort of problems” to have throughout the season.

The Horden boss told The Echo: “You have to anticipate that they have been doing something and they were impressive in their first game of the season against Darlington Town.

“They have signed some good players and we can’t drop

our standards against them.

“We have a great squad at the moment, everyone wants to play, everyone has the same mindset as the club and it’s a dream.

“But it’s also a hindrance because I am leaving five or six lads out at the same time.

"They are the right sort of problems to have, they’re a good set of lads and we have a

good balance.”

Josh Broom and Barney Dobinson are all close to a return and will be assessed by Payne and his coaches ahead of the game.

Washington United will have two new faces in their squad as they also return to action with a visit to Annfield Plain.

Cameron Thompson has added striker Seth Joez and midfielder Jack Young to his ranks as his side look to secure their first win as a Wearside League club.

The United boss said: “The signing of Jack Young just emphasises how seriously people should take United despite us being a new side.

“He comes in bringing all his assets to the table, as well as his knowledge and understanding of the game.

"Not to forget his experience of not only playing in this league but winning it.”
