Social club is closed until further notice

-

Hetton Social Club has announced that it will close until further notice as the Government’s new coronavirus restrictions on the North East make it “impossible” to trade.

The club made the announcement via its Facebook page, revealing that it will be closed from Tuesday – with no reopening date given.

It cited the latest round of local restrictions as the reason for the closure, highlighting that it made it “impossible to operate” the pub.

The statement on social media said: “After 24 hours of tough thoughts, it is with regret that we are announcing that Hetton Social Club will be closed as from tonight (Tuesday 29th September) until further notice.

“The latest local restrictions that have been enforced on our sector has made it impossible to operate in a sensible and safe environment.

"We will continue to monitor the changes and developments on this subject and hopefully our doors will be open again sooner, rather than later. “Staff safety is paramount. Stay safe guys and see you all really soon.”

The move comes as The Sky Lounge Washington Snooker Club, Ttonic, The Point, Glitterba ll and Live Lounge all revealed on Tuesday, September 29 that they will also shut due to new restrictions making trading difficult.

Matt Hancock announced on Monday, September 28 that in the North East, meeting anyone outside of your household indoors will be illegal, with meeting outdoors also being strongly advised against.
