-

An increase in demand for online events and services during the pandemic has led to a Sunderland company creating new jobs.

Online events platform WorkCast is creating six new jobs – primarily at its office on the Rainton Bridge Business Park – to meet customer demand.

The firm – which also has offices in Edinburgh and Seattle – says business is booming as more take their events o n l i n e a n d c o m mu n i c ate through webinars.

The company is forecasting 100% year-on-year growth for 2021, as it has seen a 300% increase in utilisation of the platform this year alone.

This comes follows the company’s Queen’s Award for Enterprise win earlier this year.

WorkCast chief executive, Stewart Kibby, said: “WorkCast has offered an outstanding product for years, and to be able to support the growth of the online events industry in these times is quite an exceptional thing.

“It’s been a difficult time for everyone, but I am proud of the adaptability of everyone at WorkCast. We have worked hard to support the team as they transition to working from home while still maintaining our standard of service. Everyone has done a fantastic job.

“We know it’s important to keep our competitive advantage, which our Sunderland base allows us to do, so I’m excited that the bulk of our growth will be there. I think it’s great for the company and great for the region and we are particularly excited to be able to expand our workforce in Sunderland.”

WorkCast’s client companies include Sony, Wiley and AAAS and it provides webinars, webcasts and virtual events.
