Cole wants Silksworth to locate their killer instinct
Silks worth CW manager Jamie Cole has challenged his players to find a killer instinct ahead of this weekend’s home game against Darlington RA.
Tom Hunter grabbed the only goal of the game against 10- man West Auckland Tunns on Wednesday as Cole’s side made it four wins in their first six games of the campaign.
That promising start has seen Silksworth move into the top eight of the Wearside League table and they could move as high as fifth if they can see off the former Northern League club on Saturday.
But Cole wants his side to find a ruthless streak to continue building on the momentum of a promising start to the campaign.
He told The Echo: “Hopefully, we can improve on our performance in midweek because it should have been more comfortable than it actually was against West Auckland Tunns.
“We need to be better in front of goal because we are
just lacking that killer instinct.
“We dominated against West Auckland, even more against 10 men, and their keeper pulled off a number of outstanding saves to keep them in it.
“We just couldn’t score, as I said, we need that killer instinct, and if we find it, we can kick on after a good start to the season.
“We are pretty much a new team, with a lot of new faces and we have interest from Northern League clubs in our players, so hopefully we can keep winning to keep them happy at the club.”
Top of the table Boldon CA are almost at full-strength as they go looking for a ninth consecutive win when they travel to Chester-le-Street United.
Long-term injury victim Stephen Ramsey remains unavailable.
Durham United are targeting a third consecutive win and a place in the top three when they host Farringdon Detached at New Ferens Park.
The visitors have no new injury concerns ahead of the game and will have new signing Adam Frame available for
the first time.
Bottom of the table Coxhoe Athletic go looking for their first league win when they travel to Darlington Town and the two sides immediately above them meet at PC Sports Pavilion as West Auckland Tunns host Gateshead Leam Rangers, Windscale travel to Annfield Plain and Wolviston entertain Richmond Town.
