Thompson nets four as Catholic Club put 18 past East Durham FSS

Sunday saw most of the SSK Recruitmen­t Peterlee & District Sunday League clubs involved in the Tommy Burrell Memorial Cup first round.

Premier Division Peterlee Catholic Club hammered second division East Durham FSS 18-0 with Scott Thompson firing in four, Jack Pounder, sub Layton Hall and Gary Shaw all scoring hat-tricks while Reece KenneyandL­iamWintrip­both hit a brace and Oliver Hotchtory while a Lewis Smith brace plus goals from Adam Brown, Callum Nord, Liam Huhill and Luke Norman saw Easington Southside beat Easington Welfare 6-0.

Wingate Howden and Seaham the Knack drew 3-3 with two goals from Tom Young and a Tom Lawson strike for Howden and a Michael Charlton brace and an effort from Andrew Gale was the Knack reply, Howden won the penalty shoot-out 4-3.

Jordan Garside’s brace helped Easington Lane WMC beat Seaham Parkside 5-2 and Horden Legion won a penalty shoot-out 5-4 after a 6-6 draw with Seaham Oddfellows Arms.
