Funding support for bereavement charity
Sunderland-based 4Loui s h a s re c e ive d a £ 2 , 5 0 0 d o n at io n to c o nt i nue i t s work improving the care bereaved families receive from healthcare professionals and a new service started last year.
The bereavement charity was founded to support those affected by miscarriage, stillbirth and the death of a baby or child.
The grant, awarded by Maximus Foundation UK, forms a part of the foundation’s second round of fund-raising in 2020 – giving £45,000 to help local charities nationwide affected by the Covid-19 crisis and increasing its funding total to £95,000.
Grant beneficiaries are selected from nominations made by Maximus UK employees.
Ya s m i n C o r r i g a n , o f - f i c e m a n a ge r at 4 L o u i s , said: “During the pandemic, we began creating memory boxes for Covid-19 patients’ families who will not be able to see them again due to restrictions in hospitals and care homes, and have sent 3,000 to date.
“T h e d o n at i o n f ro m Maximus Foundation UK will allow us to continue sending memory boxes to hospitals across the UK.”
The grant was awarded via a virtual cheque prese n t at i o n e a rl i e r this month. Di Briggs, chairman of Maximus Foundation UK, said: “The outlook for smaller charities across the UK continues to be very challenging.
"So we’re delighted to help this very worthwhile charity continue its work providing comfort and support to families during this difficult time.”
It has donated more than £320,000 since 2015.
