Some of Sunderland’s most vulnerable youngsters are missing out on vital dental checks because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Joanne Harwood Etherington: My daughter was supposed to get her teeth out Nd they cancelled it Nd she had to go in for emergency coz of an infection Nd she type 1 diabetic Nd now she is in ICU Nd had to be sedated coz her skin under her chin was badly infected Nd had three surgeries to get the infected skin removed I know covid is stopping everything but they should have a place where they can put ppl with covid in them Nd help the ppl that r suffering Nd need there help too.

Donna Simpson: I recommend you ring your dentist because some are operating as normal.

Julie Qualie: I have been waiting since March for an appointment at the dental hospital for an impacted partially erupted wisdom tooth that keeps getting infected. I don’t see why the dental hospital can't carry out appointments if they are wearing proper ppe? Lynsey Wilkie: Vulnerable children are much more likely to have health/ dental issues and need to be seen more often due to many factors. I have a vulnerable child and two who are not they are usually seen every 6 months my son every 4 within school. Of course it’s everyone I just think it’s highlighting the fact that vulnerable children could end up with serious issues xxx George Chisz Chisholm: 3 snapped teeth and two with holes only emergency treatment atm so cant be seen till im in agony ne wonder people's struggling with mental issues.

Paul Smith: I suspect a lot of non vulnerable adults and kids are...My 2 kids, Mrs and I certainly are.

All children are missing them! Adults are missing theirs too!

Diane Bowater: I work in a dentist we can do checkups but due to the social distance and covid protocol we have around 15 appointments per day if we do 15 checkups we have 15 people in pain we can not help which do you think we should see?

Denise Ball: I had my March 23rd 2020 appointment last Friday. Better late than never
