The Beacon of Light is given grand donation

-

Barratt Developments North East has started this year’s donations by giving £1,000 to the Beacon of Light.

The money will be used by the award-winning sports and education facility in Sunderland to support participants who have moved to online learning as a result of Covid -19.

The donation comes after last year’s announcement that the housebuilder has partnered with Sunderland AFC’s official charity, Foundation of Light, in launching the Barratt Homes Construction Academy at the Beacon–offerin garange of educational programmes to help young adults in the North East.

Last month, Barratt Developments North East donated 20 all-in-one computers to assist with remote learning.

Foundation of Light managing director Jamie Wright said: “We are extremely grateful to Barratt Developments North East for this generous donation – it really is fantastic news.

“We offer something for everyone, with our programmes impacting attitude, skills and knowledge.

“We know this will be a huge help for future generations of the construction industry.”

Carl Sobolewski, managing director at Barratt Developments North East, said: “We’re really pleased that our donation to the Beacon of Light will help the team continue to support young adults across the North East.

“This is the perfect opportunity to make a real difference and we are proud to be part of such an initiative.

“With the pandemic impacting so many lives, we want to make a long-lasting impact and continue to train the next generation of housebuilders, and we hope that our donation will help achieve this, alongside supporting the fantastic efforts of the Vardy Foundation.”
