Have your say on state of community

-

Sick of antisocial behaviour in your community? Well, let your feelings be known. Keeping your thoughts to yourself or moaning only to those within earshot will not change a thing.

Whether it’s drinking in public, spitting or raking through bins, everyone has their own thoughts on the matter and their own solutions to the problem.

And many also have their own thoughts on how the council should deal with the offenders. But unless they articulate their thoughts, how do they expect the council to act on them?

Today Sunderland City Council is giving people extra time to have their say in a community-wide war on those who blight our city. If you’re happy with how the city council is currently handling antisocial issues then speak up. If you’re unhappy, make your disappointment known.

Council Leader Coun Graeme Miller is leading the call to arms.

He tells us today: "This is about focusing on the concerns that we know impact on the quality of life of our residents and getting their views on what they think we should be doing to toughen up our current enforcement powers.

“We really want residents to tell us if they're in favour of the current measures and whether they would like to see further action to control issues such as dogs on beaches and dog fouling, spitting in public spaces and using motorbikes and quad bikes on footpaths and bridle ways.”

It’s your community … let those helping shape it know exactly how you feel.
