Council bosses are urging people to sign up for community funding.
Sunderland City Council’s Crowdfund Sunderland schemewaslaunchedinJanuary 2020, will be hosting a free virtual Spring funding event on Thursday February 25 to allow bidders to receive cash towards their communtiy project.
One project that reached its target was set up by Veterans in Crisis – which helps find ex-military personnel a place to live.
The organisation began its Crowdfund appeal to try andraise£10,000tobuyavan to help people move home and also create jobs and volunteering roles for unemployed veterans.
It now aims to start a removals and household clearance business to create jobs and an income stream.
Crowdfund Sunderland projects must receive pledges to hit their target, at which point, the council and Sunderland Clinical Commissioning Group will match-fund the project.
CllrGraemeMiller,leader of Sunderland City Council, said: “Veterans in Crisis is a local organisation that helps improve the lives of so many peoplewhoservedforour country. I am not surprised that the people of Sunderland backed it, and I am proud Sunderland CityCouncilmatchfunded this.
