Campaigns to support all

- Sally Burton

THE PAST year has been one of cataclysmic change, that has seen people face fear, uncertainty, and the need to find and adapt to new ways of living, within the COVID-19 pandemic.

Throughout this time, local newspapers have remained constant in their service to communities, with vital provision of trusted news and guidelines, highlighting both good and bad - where help has been most needed, and praising the multitude of people, groups and organisations who have stepped up during the most difficult of times.

JPIMedia launched several campaigns over recent months in support of its treasured communities. They included a #healthheroes campaign, to express everyone’s gratitude to all those placing themselves at risk to help others. It involved more than 100 titles across JPIMedia who came together as a collective force to salute those who have made such a difference in the communities they serve.

This followed the nationwide regional press campaign #ThereWithYou that shone lights on all vital key workers, from the multitude of carers and shop workers to refuse collectors and bus drivers, and a whole legion of community volunteers.

JPIMedia joined forces with Archant, Reach and Iliffe to back the #ThereWithYou campaign, reassuring readers that their local newspaper is a constant support.

As part of the campaign, most daily regional newspapers carried the front page headline ‘When you’re on your own, we are there with you’, to focus on keeping communities together,
