Man remains critical in hospital after fall
Northumbria Police were called to a Southwick street after a man was found with “significant” head injuries.
Officers were called to Kismet Street at around 7.30amonThursday,afterreceiving reports of concerns for the welfare of a man.
Emergency services attended the scene and found that he had “significant” head injuries that have been reported as “potentially lifethreatening”.
It is understood that he was taken to hospital where he currently remains in a critical but stable condition.
Police initially launched aninvestigationintotheincidentinanefforttodetermine thecircumstancessurroundinghowhecametosufferthe injuries–withdetectivescarrying inquires in the area.
It has been revealed that officersarenowsatisfiedthat the man had suffered his injuries as a result of a fall and that there was no third party involvement.
A force spokesperson said: “At 7.30am yesterday (Thursday) we received a report of concern for the welfare of a man on Kismet Street, Sunderland. “Emergency services attended and found the man with significant head injuries that are described as potentially lifethreatening. He was taken to hospitalwhereheremains in a critical but stable condition.
“An investigation was launched to determine the circumstances surrounding how the man came to suffer the injuries, with detectives carryingoutarangeofinquiries in the area throughout yesterday. Officers are satisfied the man suffered his injuries as a result of a fall. There was not believed to be anythirdpartyinvolvement.”
