Relax at home and see Dr Seuss The Lorax live show

-

Atheatrical treat in the form of a live performance Dr Seuss’s The Lorax will be performed and streamed live from The Old Vic stage across the globe this spring.

Staged in celebration of the story’s 50th anniversary of publication, David Greig and Charlie Fink’s enchanting and Olivier Award-nominated adaptation, directed by Max Webster, has a new form that can be seen from April 14 to 17.

It is inventively transformed into a semi-staged pint-size version to keep young and older minds entertained, enthralled and empowered with its central message of protecting the planet.

Written half a century ago, the magical battle staged by The Lorax to save his beloved Truffula trees and the whole of Paradise Valley from the go-getting Once-ler resonates in today’s world louder than ever.

Dr Seuss’s The Lorax is the fifth in the OLD VIC: IN CAMERA series, streamed live directly from the iconic Old Vic stage with the empty auditorium as a backdrop.

The Lorax will star Jamael Westman as the Once-ler, with Audrey Brisson, David Ricardo-Pearce, and Ben Thompson as the Lorax. Richard Katz, Melanie La Barrie, and Silas Wyatt-Barke fill the cast.

The show chronicles the worsening plight of the environment and plays around a direct confrontation between the Lorax, who speaks up for the trees, and the Once-ler, who causes destruction.

The theatre is proud to be working with Zoom to bring OLD VIC: IN CAMERA directly into your home, wherever you are in the world: the stream will be available to watch in all countries.

All performance times are British Summer Time, but check the times in your time zone before booking.

It is only necessary to book one ticket if you plan watching on one screen, even if you’ll be watching on the same screen with a group.

You can also book multiple tickets if you’d like to watch with friends or family from other households (who can’t watch on the same screen as you). You’ll receive one unique link for every ticket you buy.

If you plan on watching with a group on the same screen, the Old Vic asks that you please consider chipping in to cover the cost of a higher price ticket if you’re able to do so.

Once you’ve booked your ticket you’ll be sent your unique login details at least three hours in advance of the performance.

These performances are live streamed, not pre-recorded, meaning you’ll be watching live as it happens – much like life pre-lockdown. You’ll need to make sure you take your seat, at home, in time for the start of the show.

Because all performances are live captioned and audio described (you can turn these on and off as required within Zoom), access users have a completely equal choice of tickets as all other bookers.

Tickets are now on sale for OLD VIC: IN CAMERA – Dr Seuss’s The Lorax.
