STORY:

More of your comments regarding a suggestion that mobile phones should be banned from schools.

Julie Trotter: Yes take them from them while at school n return to them at end of school day, but of course there would have to be somewhere for them to be kept securely.

Connie Ferguson Trow:

That’s what my girls school does x

Melanie Reid: If schools had lockers for the pupils like I did when I went they could store phones there and even wear coats to school to stop them carrying them around. It’s nice to be able to contact them if needs be. I managed when I was young with no phone.

Kelly A Howe Burgess:

My son’s school does, they can't use them at minute, phones need to be kept with child at minute and can't be used in school time, my son walks 50 mins to and from school most days so we prefer him to able to contact us if need be not like when I went to school which was at bottom of my street.

Steve Cook: They can take them to School but not to the classroom. Headteacher should make a safe place for their phones, but I would want my child to have their phone for the journey home.

Doreen E Scott:

About time they should have done this year's ago, why do they need phones in the class room, they could take them to school but the teacher keeps them till the end of the day.

Elaine Shanks: No, they are useful for safety going to and from school. Schools don't allow them to be out during lessons so there's no issue. It's like the Education Secretary doesn't know what goes on in schools.

Bennette Tracy: Most kids are given a phone for emergency purposes. With many families on the go and parents working, it is almost necessary for most children to have mobile phones for emergencies and for their parents to have access to them. Not to be mistaken for the usage of mobile phones while classes are in session. Perhaps, a manageable means/ control to have all mobile phones off and put away until all classes have ended.

Angela Mordey: No as kids need them in case of emergency but I do think that they should be totally switched off in school.
