Alliance works well for motor industry firms

-

The advantage of working in alliance kept things moving for a North East motor industry firm.

Peterlee-based GT Group was able to call on fellow North East Automotive Alliance (NEAA) member – global logistics specialist, ThinkPrime – to release urgently needed parts which were held up at Heathrow by

HM customs.

The link came through the NEAA Trade Group – which was established to understand and support member’s trade activity.

GT Group reached out to see if a fellow member company could help with

the delays it was facing to a time-critical shipment and was introduced to

ThinkPrime to help evaluate where and what was causing the supply chain hold up.

ThinkPrime, thanks to its knowledge and experience of HM Customs’ operating procedures, helped unlock the delay and ensured the goods reached GT Group.

Tim Jayes, managing director at GT Group, said: “A parts delivery from China was delayed by customs at Heathrow and our carrier was struggling to get any information on when parts would be released.

"ThinkPrime were very helpful and gave us many contact options and we got the parts released.”

Paul Knight, head of sales at ThinkPrime, said: “We were more than happy to provide specialist support to the GT Group.

“We are always available to offer guidance on any global supply chain issues and want to be there to support all our customers and fellow NEAA members.”

Rohan Kohli, project manager at the NEAA, said: “We are delighted this was a success for both parties.”
