We must Aid McGeady with rest – he is too important to lose
Even though team form has been really poor in the past few weeks, there has been one consistency in the performances.
Aiden McGeady. Whether heisontheperipheryofagame or highly involved, you always sense in any given moment he is capable of doing something magical. On Saturday against Blackpool, youcouldarguethat had his strike, which hit the post, gone in just before they scored, the game could have panned out differently. It’s all ifs and buts, I know, but still.
With there seemingly not muchelsetoplayforoverthese nextfewleaguegames,I’dbeinclined to give him a bit of a rest.
He is 35 now and the worst thing that could happen to the team would be him picking up a knock or a strain in these next few games.
He has exerted a lot of energy into the team with his performances this season and it could be a perfect time to recharge his batteries.
He will be massively important in the play-off games, where more often than not they are close encounters. He possesses the ability, even by himself, of showing a bit of genius that could win a game.
Maybe throwing somebody else into the team over these next few weeks could help them find a bit of form while McGeady rests up and gets himself right for the play-offs.
I’m sure Lee Johnson will discuss this with him and see how he is feeling.
All I know is I want a fit and firing McGeady when the twolegged ties come around. He is the most important player in theteamandhejustmaybethe key to the Championship.
