1 Call The Midwife, BBC One, Sunday, 8pm

It’s April 1966 and the trial of the Moors Murders sends a chill through Poplar, mark- ing a loss of innocence. Having developed a close bond with a patient during her delivery, Trixie (Helen George) is troubled when her new friend is suddenly admitted to the Lady Emily, following a collapse at home.

2 The Rookie, Sky Witness & NOW TV, Thursday, 9pm

The start of the third season. John Nolan, the oldest rookie in the LAPD, has used his life experience, determina- tion and sense of humour to keep up with rookies 20 years his junior. Now he faces his biggest challenge as a police officer when he must come to terms with the choices he has made in pursuit of the truth.

3 The Syndicate, BBC One, Tuesday, 9pm

Now the syndicate have Frank’s (Neil Morrissey) dog, they need to sneak him past the people at reception and up to their hotel room… not an easy thing to do with an enormous Irish wolfhound. But they have another nasty surprise waiting in store for them. Their hotel bill is much bigger than they expected.

4 Taskmaster, Channel 4, Thursday, 9pm

The 11th series of the BAFTA-winning comedy game show continues. In the sev- enth episode, there are fires and alarms - though not at the same time. Little Alex Horne is forced to sup cold soup, Lee Mack attacks a toy vole, and Sarah Kendall invents a sweet dressing for an unusual salad.

5 Great British Menu, BBC Two, Weds/Thurs, 8pm and Friday, 8.30pm

It’s the Northern Ireland heats, and competing for the top spot are four chefs: one returner and three new to the competitio­n. Paul Cunningham left the competitio­n after the fish course last year. He’s up against newbies Phelim O’Hagan from Londonderr­y and Gemma Austin and Andy Scollick from Belfast.
