Marley Pots continue fine run of form as they beat Bird 6-2

The Marley Pots steam train still has legs as they recorded their 12th Fifth Division sponsored by Cosmic Blinds win to go six points clear at the top of the table.

They manhandled the Washington Bird and ran out 6-2 victors as Holmes, Roper, Hope-Charlton, Coates scored prior to the Bird had Kelly and Godnell reply but the hosts made sure after a double from Harvey Cronin.

Washy Athletic heaped further pressure on the Tyne and Wear side with their 2-1 win, the visitors are desperate to add to their threepoint tally, but it’ll have to wait.

Hargreaves scored his sides only goal and Bunge and Smith wrapped up the win for Athletic.

The Wheatsheaf are still winless as they boast an unwelcomed record of 12 out of 12 league defeats.

AFC Downhill were the latest to take all three points as McConville struck twice and Wright hit their third before a late goal from Kershaw.

Herrington are still flying high but they had to dig deep to claim the win against the battling Golden Fleece team.

Matty Rowan hammered home a hattrick but the Fleece rallied back through Stokoe, Marley and Outhwaite but it was Stanness who slotted home the winner.

A straightfo­rward 4-0 win saw Humbledon PL slowly move up the league as they were up against Wear United Vedra.

Grangetown are now hoping to turn a corner as they have recruited well on the pitch and behind the scenes.

They ended their losing streak with a 3-3 draw with promotion candidates FC Romanos thanks to Cushingham, Leonard and new signing Adam Wasey, Romanos saw Saunders and Richardson secure a point.

Stella Dons continue to lead the pack after their dominant 6-0 win over Pennywell Comrades.

Hot on their heels are super Southwick as they edged out the Lansdowne by the odd goal with Ross bagging the winner, the visitors had Lynch respond.

Hylton Castle TC Plastics still can’t buy a win as they were upended 6-3 by Washington Sky Lounge but had Callaghan score twice then Chris Chan but the Washington side were too good with efforts from Brown, Hanson (2), Logan (2) and McGeoch.

Grange Park burst the bubble of Port of Call, who gained their first league win last week, as they took an easy three points with a 4-1 win.

Dobinson, Thompson, Kane and Fisk did the damage.

In the First Division sponsored by Hakitak Pet Laundry Ltd, you can’t deny that Redhouse are a force to be reckoned with as they increased

their lead at the top of the first division after making light work of Ryhope FC who had Brown reply.

Ogunsuyi 2 and a treble from Connor O’Neill see them nine points in front. Wearmouths recent victory was short lived from the previous week as they faced a tough Ryhope CW side.

The hosts finished Wearmouth off with a 4-0 after braces from Bennett and Davies.

The Avenue claimed a much-needed point to help steer them away from the dreaded drop zone, they earned a 2-2 draw with the in-form Jolly Potter side, Ashworth and Carr bagged a goal each for The Avenue and Whelan and Woodward replied for the away side.

Thorney Close are still sitting comfortabl­y in second place and they for the Queen Vic to the sword in an 8-3 win as the away team could only muster efforts from Summerside and a couple from Paul Muir

In the Second Division sponsored by Ringtone Mobile Phones and Tablets, high flying Townend Farm dropped their first points of the season in an entertaini­ng 2-2 with Hall Farm, who dominated majority of the game, Hodgson and McGough found the net for the hosts and Moon was among the scored for Townend.

Promotion hopefully Carpets Elite are still having their say in things after their convincing 9-0 win over the struggling Oddies side. Robins (5), Potts, Robson and Rose earned the win.

Washington New Tavern found things hard when they come up against an impressive Hendon side.

Hendon raced into a 5-0 lead thanks to a double from Knight, Reay, Owens and Newby but a massive lack of concentrat­ion in defence saw the Tavern ensure a nervy finish after Robinson struck twice and Davies added a late goal.

Myers finally added to the win column after a run of defeats with an empathic 7-2 over the Stella.

Stalwart Neil McNulty hit five followed by goals from Richardson and Sayers and the Stella could only muster up a brace from Snelling.

A depleted Board Inn side celebrated their 1st league win over the tricky AFC Houghton side. Trotter hit a quick double and Coverdale and Mould added before Houghton hit back through Bestford and Head.

In the Third Division sponsored by DST Shutters, Washington North End are still leading the pack ahead of the unbeaten Stella United after another win and it was a tight 3-2 victory over The Doxy Lad that sees them atop of the league.

The impressive Connor Scott scored twice and Barton hit the winner and Doxy thanked Fox and Burlace for reduce the scoreline.

It was another poor week for Millview CIU as they were rolled over by The Broadway ensuring they are stuck to the foot of the table with only a paltry two points to their name.

Hardy and Conlin kept Millview interested with their goals but the Broaway were ruthless and had Jones (2), Howell, Giles and Robinson fire home.

A single Sharan Barrass effort was enough for the Grange to take maximum points and move away from the relegation battle. In the Fourth Division sponsored by Colin Archbold Painters and Decorators, Birtley Town sent a message to the league leaders after their dazzling 100 hammering of the Jolly Steward Raiders to move into 2nd spot.

Smith (3), Ward, Wilson, Laverick, Foster and an Arnot double put the away team to the sword.

Downhill Free Gardenrs had an easy out against relegation favourites Park View.

Wood scored three times then Yates, Frost and Wadey finished the scoring.

Troy Baker did hit Park Views only goal.

Philadelph­ia Castle come out on top in the battle of the bottom half of the table as they beat Whitburn 6-1 courtesy of goals from Winchester, Morgan, Obrien (2) and Nugent (2).

Coulson managed Whitburn’s solitary strike. Belmont finally ended their losing streak with a 3-3 draw away to Albion FC, McNab, Hellens and Mutimer scored for Belmont but the Albion hit back to share the spoils thanks to Brown, Mitchell and Redman.

Washy Blue Bell celebrated now shipping in double figures as they come up against Doxford Athletic, they were well beaten however 7-2.

Dan Dobson was the player of the day hit five goals himself followed by a Matty Hill brace all before Harding and Thoburn scored for the Blue Bell.

Top of the pile Lambton Lions moved one pint in front after there narrow 3-1 win over Velocity Last Orders, Blair, Bain and Oliver gave the Lions the points and Middlemiss scored in between these goals from Last orders.
