STORY:

Have you tried the e-scooters out yet?

Sylvia Milburn:

Interesting, I’ve not seen these personally but have read that they are being used by all ages. Hopefully this will trim out the reckless riders so others can enjoy them properly and the public around them.

Emma Butler: So far just seen teenagers zooming about the pavement on them and then one dumped in the middle of the street walking towards Ryhope Road.

Lesley Cheal: Spotted two dumped behind the Uni library yesterday! No they were not in allocated places.

Amy Moran: You can leave there anywhere. The riders get a discount for dropping them back to allocated slots.

Karen Ramshaw:

I have complained to the council, Nueron who own these scooters and the police. Reck less driving on pavements, carrying passengers and no helmets. Unfortunately nothing will be done until someone is seriously injured or die.

Neil Duncan: Plenty young people I’ve seen riding these that aren’t 18.

Jane Sawyers: Would be worried about using the helmets everyone else has used especially at the minute.

Tracy Usher: I've never seen one person wearing a helmet yet.

Diane Steel: Worse thing to have done bring these out they ride up and down Park Lane bus station like idiots and they are under 18.

Paula Ellison: Drunk lads in my street throwing one around onto the road smashed it up, most stupid idea ever.

David Lavery: Just missed a teenage lad that collided with a mercedes in Sunderland the other week, the lady driver was stopped in the middle of the road quite shaken with the scooter still in front of the car, the lad didn’t seem hurt yet looked younger than 18 as did his friends at the side of the road on their scooters.

Alan Cook: With Covid around how are they being cleaned.
