Easington CC skittled for just 36 by Langley Park

-

Having lost virtually a full first-team squad from last season for one reason or another, which has seen most players moving to other clubs in different leagues, Easington CC had no option but to declare only one side in a third division instead of being in the top flight.

The club will have no second team this season so the majority of playing members along with juniors have formed the bulk of the first team this summer.

On Saturday Easington took on Langley Park & Bear Park CC and, batting first, they were dismissed for a paltry 36 from 17 overs with no one managing to make it to double figures.

John Winn did the damage with the ball with his pace finishing with 6-16 in a nine-over spell.

It took only five overs for their opponents to pass the Easington total reaching 38 without loss thus ending a disappointing start for the club who will however persevere throughout this season.

Horden who did not play last season due to Covid, may struggle in the Second Division having been relegated at the end of 2019.

On Saturday they took on promotion favourites Seaham Harbour and having decided to bat first were dismissed for 36.

New skipper Adam Dixon made top score of 12 in the innings.

The damage was done by two former Easington players signed by the Harbour, brothers Dane and Jordan Wilson who share the ten wickets to fall, Dane finishing his six over spell with 5-19 whereas Jordan took 5-13.

Seaham Harbour raced to victory making 37 without loss in 4.2 overs.
