Channel 5 apologises to Wearside TV star
Reality TV star Charlotte Crosby has slammed Channel 5 for a show which saw surgeons pull apart her appearance.
The 31-year-old from Sunderland was the focus of a Channel5documentarycalled ‘Celebrities–What’sHappened To Your Face?’ which dissectedCharlotte’sphysicalappearance and speculated on the cosmetic work she may have had.
The TV star, who found fame on MTV reality show Geordie Shore in 2011, took to Instagram to call out Channel 5overtheshow,whichshesaid featured‘expertsdissectingmy ‘plastic’ face with disgust.’
Charlotte said the network had become ‘trolls’ and asked whether it would take responsibility for her ‘dip in mental health and plummeted self-esteem.’
Charlotte claimed that, despite repeated requests to Channel 5 by her agent that they not go ahead with the broadcast, it was aired on Thursday.
In a long statement shared on her Instagram page, CharlotteCrosbysaid:“Dealingwith trolls is one thing, you ignore, you block.
"But when the trolls are the mainstreamTVchannels?Will they now take responsibility formydipinmentalhealthand plummeted self-esteem?
"Do they take responsibility for the resulting press from theshow,againdiscussinghow ‘shocking’ my face is?

health helplines on their websites – is this for viewers or the subjects of their poor choice in programming, like me?
"Broadcastersaresokeento do psych tests for shows yet at thesametimegivespacetoprogrammes which destroy the mental health of its subjects.”
Channel 5 said it has removed the episode from its streaming platform and apologised.
In a statement, it said: “Channel 5 and the programme’s producers, Crackit Productions, take duty of care very seriously.
"Weapologiseforanyupset caused.”
