STORY:

Plans for leisure development to provide swimming lessons for youngsters refused by Sunderland City Council.

Stacey Brown: I live on the estate and think it would of been nice for the local residents with small children to have somewhere to go, six to eight clients isn’t exactly going to add to the traffic volumes that the estate already has is it.

Abigail Higgins: I don’t think cycle storage should come into it. How many people take small children to swimming lessons on bikes? I would imagine most people would drive, walk if they live nearby or come by bus and walk to and from the bus stop.

Yvonne Alexander: They probably have this building ear marked for something else.

Lesley Wraith: Shocking decision it would have been a good addition!

Dave Dougan: Probably reserved for student accommodation.

Bill Walton: That’s funny. The houses next to Morrison’s meant that free parking was taken away by the building company and replaced by paid for parking. One rule for one.

Minda Scougall: Say no more. Rather have bored kids or older kids roaming the streets instead of learning a life lesson.

Thomas Wright: Would have been a brilliant idea, mind you, I think all estates should have family leisure centres i.e. swimming, five a side areas, gyms. Oh and ice rink.

James Luke: Refuse building something for children but give the okay for students accommodation and new houses.

Sophie Burlinson: We need something for kids, there’s too many student accommodations, this is why we have so much crime now.

Anthony Howe: Every place should have leisure centre but Sunderland hasn't one, it was pulled down.

Michael Bell: Reading the report it states letters of objection? So how did that happen when no one knew about the application anyway.
