STORY:

Fans were fully expecting Boseman to be posthumously given the Best Actor award.

Alexander Oliver: Well done Anthony Hopkins. Fine actor. Well done to the academy also for maintaining their integrity and continuing to give awards to people on merit not on their skin colour or due to public opinion.

John Purvis: Hopkins is a brilliant actor.

Veronica Knowles:

Haven’t seen either film so can’t comment on individual performance but perhaps they should include a posthumous award if it’s that important for him to be recognised. By the way I’m no Anthony Hopkins fan.

Darren Barrass:

The sneering Woke brigade fuming because their expectations were not met, and an elderly White actor won and ruined everything for them.

Alan King: I thought best actor went to the best actor otherwise it would be called best actor who died recently.

Karen Taylor: We have much more to worry about in the world right

now, who cares.

Lester Gray: Why? Because he’s passed away an he’s black?? It should go to the best actor and it’s easily Anthony Hopkins by a mile. There’s too much of this diverse shot going on these days. Any award should be in merit not your skin colour or gender, it should be for who is the best and nothing else should come in to it.

Adam Jefferson: People throwing their toys out the pram.

Ian Maggiore: I hope he's celebrating with some liver, fava beans and a nice Chianti. Great actor.

STORY:

Line of Duty’s series finale to star Sunderland star Laura Elphinstone.

Colleen Curran: Did not know she was from Sunderland, just goes to show one of the best series has a Mackem in it.

David Ford: Lived up the street from us.

Bethany Thomas: She’s from Sunderland. I knew she had a north east accent.
