Cats quartet make League One team of the season

-

Four Sunderland players have been named in the EFL League One team of the season.

Charlie Wyke, who missed out on the player of the season award to Peterborough United's Jonson Clarke-Harris, was recognised for his outstanding efforts across the campaign.

With two games of the regular season to play, he has 25 league goals and 30 across all competitions.

Lee Burge was named in goal, having kept 18 clean sheets across the campaign thus far.

Luke O'Nien was named at right-back, after a superb campaign in which he has often been forced to deputise in a number of different positions.

Aiden McGeady was the fourth Black Cat to be recognised, perhaps the most notable given that he did not play a league game until Lee Johnson's arrival in December.

McGeady has registered a remarkable 14 assists in just 27 games.

Grant Leadbitter had been nominated for goal of the season for his stunning strike at Doncaster Rovers, but lost out to Bradford City's Lee Novak.

Sunderland were nominated for community club of the year, which was awarded to Port Vale.
