Tim Hortons recruiting as it prepares to open latest branch
Canadian restaurant Tim Hortons has confirmed when its first branch will open in the North East – with its recruitment drive now under way.
The brand will launch the first of its drive-thrus at Washington in the former Frankie and Benny’s at The Galleries in Washington this summer, with another to follow soon after at Boldon.
It comes as it begins to welcome applications for staff on its own website from today, with the debut site to create more than 50 jobs, while its sister site in Boldon will generate a further 40 roles.
The two new launches form part of the brand’s plan to bring a Tim Hortons restaurants to every major town and city by 2022.
The company has said it famous for its “signature coffee, delicious donuts and Canadian charm” with the Washington restaurant to offer dine-in seating for up to 105 guests and drive-thru services for those on the go.
Delivery options will also be made available to those in the area following the launch.
The company has said its arrival in the region will “offer a combination of full-time and part-time roles, with impressive progression and training opportunities.
Once The Galleries site is open the firm says “customers can expect Canada’s favourite coffee, freshly baked donuts and Timbits around
the clock, as well as delicious breakfast, lunch and evening meal options, including hot
sandwiches and wraps.”
The company wouldn’t reveal an exact opening date but
said fans should keep an eye on social media for opening giveaways this summer.
Kevin Hydes, Chief Commercial Officer of Tim Hortons franchise in the UK, said: “The North East has been an area of interest to us for a long time, and so we’re thrilled to bring our first-ever Tim Hortons restaurants to the region.
"We have a huge fanbase here and have had many requests to bring the brand to the area, so we expect it to be hugely popular with the local community and fans from neighbouring cities.
“Washington has a fantastic community, and we feel it is a great location to mark our arrival here, with Boldon set to open soon after. We know there is a lot of talent in the area and look forward to recruiting for a variety of exciting part-time and full-time roles.”
