Kyprios is set to bag the win at Lingfield

-

Epsom favourite High Definition has had to sidestep the Novibet Derby Trial, but Kyprios can ensure the Lingfield prize still returns to Ballydoyle.

Aidan O'Brien has won the race five times previously, most recently with subsequent Derby hero Anthony Van Dyck two years ago, and he had been hoping High Definition could make it six on Saturday.

A late setback means that colt misses out, leaving the way clear instead for dual winner Kyprios to state his Epsom case.

A half-brother to the topclass Free Eagle and a full sibling to Search For A Song, Kyprios impressed when winning over an extended mile on his juvenile debut at Galway, but could not follow up when switched to Group Three company for the Zetland Stakes at Newmarket subsequently.

Sent off favourite that day, something appeared to be amiss because he was never travelling - a wrong which Kyprios righted with a victorious return at Cork last month.

He still looked a bit green in winning that day - and while his three-quarter length margin was not all that impressive, he looked as though the experience over 10 furlongs would do him the world of good.

From a fine staying family, Kyprios should not be troubled by a move up to just shy of 12 furlongs - and first-time cheekpieces ought to help him focus on the task in hand.

Ocean Road has less obvious claims in the Novibet Oaks Trial Fillies' Stakes, but she can get the job done for Hugo Palmer.

The form of her debut second at Nottingham back in October looks pretty smart, because she chased home leading Oaks candidate Noon Star - who already has a win under her belt this season.

Ocean Road then shed her maiden tag with a cosy verdict in an all-weather novice event at this track in December, defying a market drift to come home nearly three lengths clear in a race that was not really run to suit.

A half-sister to the admirable Wigmore Hall, this daughter of Australia should enjoy a move up in distance from a mile.

Isabella Giles fell short in her Classic trial, but consolation awaits in the Novibet Chartwell Fillies' Stakes.

Winner of both the Prestige and Rockfel Stakes in a fine juvenile campaign, Isabella Giles put her 1000 Guineas

hopes on the line in the Fred Darling at Newbury last month.

However, she was a bit keen early that day and on ground that was possibly a bit faster than she would ideally like, Isabella Giles dropped back to finish sixth - albeit beaten only three lengths.

There should be a bit more cut in the ground at Lingfield.
