Let’s salvage something this season, says Jamie

-

Silksworth CW manager Jamie Cole has urged his players to “salvage something from the season” in Saturday’s Durham Trophy quarter-final against Washington United.

A 2-0 home defeat against Richmond Town in midweek ended Silksworth’s hopes of qualifying for the last four of the Alan Hood Charity Cup.

Cole’s side ended their Group One campaign with just six points in as many games, and will now focus on their attempts to reach the last four of the Durham Trophy.

Saturday’s trip to Nissan Sports Club offers the chance to set up a semi-final against Horden CW, and continue their competitive action for the season.

Cole admitted that his players need a “massive lift” and is hopeful of a change of luck.

“We have it all to do on Saturday if we want to salvage something from this strange season,” he said.

“The lads need a massive lift and a bit of luck to go our way.

“At the moment, it seems a lot is going against us.”

Cole confirmed that Kieran Mitchell will miss the tie due to work commitments.

Their hosts are boosted by the return of Curtis Richardson and Taylor Mason, but Niall Smith and Harvey Cronin will miss out through injury.

The other quarter-final will see Farringdon Detached host FC Hartlepool at Leyburn Grove.

The visitors have received a major boost with the news that Luke Naylor and Nat Skidmore will be available once again.

Boldon CA can all but secure their place in the semifinal of the Alan Hood Charity Cup when they host Annfield Plain in a Group Two tie.
