Liam claims victory in 10k race at Kirkharle
Sunderland Harrier Liam Taylor won a close battle with Gateshead Harriers’ Conrad Franks in the Run Northumberland Kirkharle Capability Brown Multi-Terrain 10k.
There were only four seconds separating the pair, with Talyor clocking 36.37.
In third place was Clark Scott of Gala Harriers up in the Borders with a time of 37.45.
Sunderland Harrier Michael Wilson recorded 1.49.22 in seventh in the 800m A race in the British Milers’ Club Grand Prix at Stretford in Greater Manchester.
In the B race, Houghton Harrier Henry Johnson finished fifth with 1.50.67.
Sprinter Jordan Beavers recorded two personal bests in the North Eastern Counties Open meeting at Middlesbrough.
The Sunderland Harrier finished first in his 200m with a time of 22.41 and second in the 100m with 11.04.
Under-17 Jak Jarvis won his 1,500m race also with a personal best, that being 4.46.73.
The Sunderland Strollers Running Club’s committee have abandoned their plans for their pier-to-pier race this month and now for this year altogether.
They had been considering identifying a date for later in the year, but with a possible congested fixture list due to the backlog of postponed events, that would be too difficult to organise, they’ve decided.
All entrants who rolled forward their entry from 2020 to 2021 will be offered the same opportunity for a provisional date of Sunday, May 15, 2022.
Anyone who does not wish to carry forward their entry will receive a full refund of their fee.
