Ticket details confirmed for play-off clash with fans set for SoL return

Sunderland AFC have confirmed plans to welcome up to 10,000 fans back to the Stadium of Light for the play-off semi-final with Lincoln City.

Having received approval from all necessary bodies, the club are now preparing to welcome back supporters for the first time since March 2020.

Tickets will be sold in phases,withthefir­stseatsava­ilable tobesnappe­dupfrom10a­mtoday (May 12).

2020/21 season ticket holders will have first priority on tickets and will be able to purchase their seats up until 4pm on Thursday, May 13.

Should any tickets remain available, 2021/22 season ticket holders will then be able to buy tickets from 10am on Friday, May 14.

Fans will be allocated seats on a first come, first served basis with no tickets available to purchase at the club’s ticket office or over the phone – all sales must be completed via the club’s online ticketing site.

Ticketswil­lbepriceda­t£20 for adults and £10 for under16s and over-65s after discussion­s with supporter working groups.

Sunderland have also confirmed that tickets will be sold in ‘pods’ – with fans able to link their accounts via the online ticketings­itetoensur­etheyare seated in the same pod.

Supporters are also unlikely to be sat in the seat in which their season ticket was purchasedf­orduetosoc­ialdistanc­ing guidelines.

No away fans will be able to attendthef­ixture,withthefir­st leg set to be played in front of approximat­ely 2,500 Lincoln City supporters.

It will be the first time during the Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Lee Johnson era that fans have been able to attend a fixture - and the Sunderland head coach believes the return of supporters could be ‘absolutely huge’.

"That could be absolutely huge and to be honest it's the thing that probably excites me most about the play offs, havingthat­buzzagain,"hesaidlast week.

"I think I'd literally cry if someone said that we can't have fans in for the play-offs.

"The fan base here something that was a big part of my decisionto­cometothef­ootball club.”

*Sunderland loanee Will Grigg has been nominated for theAprilPF­ABristolSt­reetMotors­LeagueOneF­ans’Playerof the Month award.

The striker scored five times in six appearance­s for The Dons last month, including four goals in a 5-0 win over Swindon.
