‘Guerrilla tactics’ in a effort to recruit staff

Northern Gas and Power parked a marketing van outside of their rival’s office in an effort to attract sales staff to work for them.

The Northern Gas and Power van was parked at Great Annual Savings’ office at the Spectrum Business Park in Seaham on Wednesday, in a bid to attract sales staff to work for them.

Electronic signs displayed messages of “we pay you in actual cash for your hard work”, mention free massages even targeted Great Annual Savings chief executive and founder Brad Groves.

Founded in 2012, the energy company is based at in Baltic Place in Gateshead and employs over 700 people across three continents.

It is aiming to expand within the North East and is looking for sales staff to recruit to it’s existing team.

Northern Gas and Power’s operations director, Paul Barrett, has explained that “guerrilla tactics” such as the marketing van are common place within the highlycompetitive industry when it comes to recruitment and often prove to be effective.

Mr Barrett commented: "It is a very competitive marketplace, and guerrilla tactics is one of the recruitment approaches we use which has proved very effective on this occasion and was successful against Utilitywise and Utility Alliance.

The Echo approached Great Annual Savings for a comment however they declined.
