Not vision of the residents

- Susan Watson, Silksworth.

It was brilliant to see the Conservative Party gaining more votes in the latest election.

Once again we have

Cllr Miller, Chairman of Sunderland Council, saying Conservatives gained because of the vaccine bump and UKIP collapse.

These Labour councillors always manage to say something completely different to why their party failed in gaining votes.

The sooner Sunderland is free from this Labour council the better it will be for us all.

Money given to this council from the government for the regeneration of Sunderland city centre is being used on a state of the art library, workshops, a heritage centre; surely the city centre shops should have been a priority to give everyone the benefit of using?

Again this is this council’s vision not the local residents’ vision.

It’s amazing how many Conservative councils did not increase council tax this year, yet Sunderland’s Labour council, which is supposed to be for the working class people, increased theirs!

It’s such a pity Sunderland didn't go for an elected Mayor, someone who would have the same vision as the Mayor of Teesside who is doing a brilliant job.

Also what about all the passing of houses being built in the Silksworth/ Burdon area, which residents objected to, citing their concerns at loosing greenbelt and protection of wildlife, yet their wishes have been ignored by this Labour Council/councillors.

Whilst the council keep saying there is insufficient houses, there is now an abundance of new builds in Ryhope, Burdon and Silksworth.

Then, of course, there is Labour leader Kier Starmer who constantly criticises or opposes almost everything Boris is doing; Kier Starmer needs to go. As for the pandemic, if it had been left to Starmer and co we would not have been given the vaccines at the level we have.

Everything Starmer suggests and all he says he would do, fills me with fear and dread.

I do not understand his policies or beliefs as someone who wishes to become Prime Minister of UK. He and his full party need to go back to basics and

“Surely the city

centre shops should have been

a priority.”

be supportive of this great country and its people.
